Not only do we make good to eat food, we also believe in DOING good for the environment. We have always worked towards doing our part to create a more sustainable environment. We recycle, we reuse, and we exhaust every effort to reduce waste in our kitchens.
This commitment is even incorporated into the design of our restaurants, with details like Energy Star refrigeration units, tankless water heaters, low flow toilets, and energy efficient lighting.
Being green is an ongoing effort and we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint as a brand.
We were founded with the belief that a company should do more than sell a product; it should support the communities in which it does business. One major focus of our community involvement has always been health.
Every June, we hold National Pita Day where we raise money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s continued efforts to eliminate Heart Disease and Stroke. For two weeks before National Pita Day, guests can purchase a red paper heart for $2 with all proceeds going to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. On the day of, guests can enjoy a heart-healthy, half-price pita as a tasty reminder to make better lifestyle choices.
Nutrition, Allergies, and Transparency
We work hard to offer our guests high-quality, fresh food choices. We also provide easily accessible nutritional information — in our restaurants and online — so guests can make the best choices to suit their lifestyle and dietary needs.
Respectful of food allergies and sensitivities, we only work with select suppliers who are compliant with regulatory HACCP food allergen safety protocols, standards and practices in allergic ingredient handling and isolation storage procedures.
We will continue to look for ways to reduce less healthy and unwanted ingredients in our products (i.e. sodium & fat ) and increase ingredients that deliver better nutritional benefits without sacrificing flavour and satisfaction. Currently these efforts combined with our well balanced menu has earned the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s Health Check designation on several of our most popular pitas and four children’s menu options.
