Extreme Pita will soon open its second location in San Antonio with plans to further develop in the market.

Touting “fresh and healthy” items built around baked pita bread, Extreme Pita will set up shop at 523 Med Court in Stone Oak, with plans to open five to 10 locations in the next five years. Sepand Fariabi is the local Med Court location owner.

According to a news release, Extreme Pita emphasizes serving a 2,000-year-old traditional Mediterranean staple — the pita — and feature a “no rules” menu that customizes every rolled pita to suit the health-conscious customer’s individual tastes. All pitas are freshly grilled right in front of the customer with water, not oil.

Customers also know the nutritional components of every menu item. For example, the small grilled chicken pita sandwich has 257 calories, 21.9 grams of protein, 2.1 grams of total fat, 0.6 grams saturated fat, no trans fat, 35.3 grams of carbohydrates, 8 grams of fiber and 785 milligrams of sodium, according to the menu.

“There is a real opportunity for us to carve out a niche market in San Antonio,” said Ray Zandi, vice president of U.S. development for Extreme Pita, in the release.

“With a large population that has a sizeable segment tending toward health consciousness, San Antonio is a natural fit for our vision of inspiring healthy living. We offer a fantastic range of healthy great tasting food for busy, active individuals and families who want to live life to the fullest.”
