July 2002 - Ottawa, ON.
"Extreme Pita May Very Well Be Serving Canada's Healthiest Sandwich!!!"

If the progress of Extreme Pita is any indication of things to come, one thing is for sure, it is good to be healthy! With the trend in 'healthy' fast food rising, everyone offers a 'lighter menu' now-a-days: McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, etc. Even with major competitors such as Subway and Mr. Sub having such a strong threshold in the Ottawa market, Extreme Pita sees plenty of opportunity and potential.

When the Extreme Pita opened its doors for the first time in 1997, it couldn't keep up with the demands of the market for their fresh, healthy and extremely tasty pita. Now in 2002, Extreme Pita has over 62 stores across Canada and the demand alone in the Nation's Capital is overwhelming. Ottawa has more restaurants per capita than any other city in the country. And the Extreme Pita is bringing in a whole new wave of fast, healthy sandwiches. Extreme Pita currently has four locations in full operation, and another three are under construction, two of which, Royden and Orleans, will be opening this month. Extreme Pita also plans to have four more locations added to the list by year end, not bad for a concept that just entered the Ottawa market less than three years ago.

The residents of Canada's bilingual capital include politicians, bureaucrats, diplomats and students from around the world, and with Extreme Pita's menu everyone can find a pita that suites them, from Chicago Gyro to Falafel, Souvlaki to Veggie Burger. Ottawa also hosts a large population of vegetarians. Extreme Pita reserves one side of its grill strictly for veggies, and uses separate cooking utensils for vegetarians. Customer's needs are always first and foremost at the Extreme Pita.

The Extreme Pita's concept is simple; provide customers with an alternative to the traditional fast food restaurant. Extreme Pita is committed to catering to people with active lifestyles, they offer a wide variety of pitas to choose from including 23 pitas with 4 grams of fat or less. Compare this to Extreme Pita's major competitors; Subway, who offer 7 subs containing fewer than 6 grams of fat, or even Mr. Sub, who offer 12 sandwiches with less than 6 grams of fat. Extreme Pita feels no threat by their more established and widely known competitors. Why would they? Extreme Pita may target the same market, but they satisfy the demand of their active consumer, and by far beat the competitors with their 23 pita's with 4 grams of fat or less.

Extreme Pita also offers fresh salads and an item called the 'Pita Pizza". There is no oil used in the preparation, no processed cheese, and nothing is prepared in the microwave.

Health is important to everyone and the product is something that the customer can dictate, you can sautee your vegetables and have your meat grilled, not microwaved, all of it tucked and wrapped in a healthy pita shell. At Extreme Pita we proudly create our pitas and display our fresh produce right in front of our customer's eyes After all, when you use such quality products, why not show them off?

The Extreme Pita offers the premium benefits of fast food such as affordability and convenience. However, unlike traditional fast food, Extreme Pita's product provides more freshness and greater taste. The vibrant and energetic décor is very comfortable for a very relaxing healthy meal. Most Extreme Pita's offer catering and delivery: services which are rarely available at other traditional fast food outlets.

Currently Extreme Pita has four locations in and around the Ottawa area: at 1611 Bank Street, 108 Bank Street(Bank & Albert), Kanata Centrum, 378 Richmond Road, Opening soon are the Extreme Pita's located at 3 Roydon Unit #2 and 4434 Innes Road Unit #3 (Orleans), and Carling Avenue. So come on by and give us a try, we know you'll be back!
